The fine arts team from the East Brewton First Assembly of God’s Pulse Student Ministry competed at zone level in Mobile recently with 13 of the grou’s entries advancing to state competition. The team had even first place finishes, four second place finishes and two third place finishes to advance to competition in Birmingham next month.

Chris Sumerlin, minister of student ministries, said entries of the group included drama, instrumental, vocal, and communication divisions.

“It’s quite an honor to advance to the state level where we will minister, and compete with north based churches in Alabama,” Summerlin said. “We are so proud of all our students who participated on every level.”

This year’s zone team included Tyler Guest, Cody Laymon, Bethany Bradley, Lauren Parker, Jade Danley, Hudson Brown, Justin Floyd, Gary Likely, Johnathan Hall, Brandon Bradley, Kandice Larrimore, Robin Swift, Tiffany Sawyer, Megan Watson and Isaac Watson.

Summerlin said the Pulse student ministry fine arts team is not just about competition.

“Our team is about ministry,” he said. “We minister several times per year in venues such as other churches, youth rallies and events such as the Blueberry festival,”
