The East Brewton United Methodist Church will offer a little fun in the form of music and impersonations Saturday night at the church’s annual variety show.
Set to begin at 7 p.m., the show will feature acts such as Elvis, Jerry Clower, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, Fats Domino, Minnie Pearl and Merle Haggard.
Taking on the roles to entertain those attend the event will be the church pastor, George Weaver along with Joe Dozier, Wanda Day, Debi Hart, Brandon Patterson, Buddy Bell, Johnny Chavers and others.
The variety show is an opportunity for the church congregation to offer a community event for Christians. The time of fellowship opens the door to have a good time and see the goodness that God’s love offers, church members said.
This 2011 event marks the third year the variety show has been presented by the church’s members and guests.
Weaver, who has been instrumental in the birth and planning of each of the past shows, has announced his retirement from the church as of June 2012. The future of the variety show is uncertain.
The public is invited to what may be the final opportunity to witness this type of show at the East Brewton church.
The church is located on Forrest Avenue across from East Brewton City Hall. The show will be presented in the fellowship building across from the main sanctuary.
There is no charge to attend the show.
