Brewton 10U falls to Opp Tuesday, will play CC at 6 p.m. Wednesday

The Brewton 10U all-stars suffered their first loss of the district tournament in Evergreen Tuesday night as they fell to Opp 10-2.
Brewton, now 2-1 in the tournament, fell to the loser’s bracket where they will face Covington County Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
Covington County defeated Andalusia Tuesday night 7-3 to advance in the tournament.
Brewton defeated Covington County 19-14 earlier in the tournament Sunday night.
With a win Wednesday, Brewton will advance to the championship game Thursday night where they will have a rematch with Opp. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
Opp will have to be defeated twice Thursday. A second game Thursday is planned for 8 p.m. if needed.
If Brewton loses one more game, they will be eliminated.

One win away from clinching a spot in the championship game, the Brewton 10U all-stars suffered a bump in the road Tuesday in Evergreen as Opp came away with a 10-2 win to drop Brewton into the loser’s bracket.
In the game Tuesday, Opp struck for three runs in the first inning to take an early lead, but Brewton responded with two of their own in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to one.
From there, Brewton would be held scoreless the remainder of the game while Opp scored one run in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead and added four more in the fifth and two in the sixth inning to get the win by eight.
Opp pounded out nine hits in the win while holding Brewton to only three. Brewton made five errors in the loss to Opp’s three and left eight runners on base while Opp left 12 runners on.
Whitley Lisenby took the loss on the mound for Brewton as he allowed seven hits, four runs, walked and struck out three while hitting one in four innings of work.
Miller Hart relieved Lisenby in the top of the fifth and walked two batters and allowed one run.
Stone Martin went the final two innings after relieving Hart and allowed two hits, five runs, walked four and struck out two.
At the plate for Brewton, Hart, Blake Jernigan and Logan Bush all had a single each.
Opp’s three runs in the first inning came with two outs in the inning.
Kyle Blevins and Jernigan scored Brewton’s two runs in the first inning.
