EB 12U all-stars beat Opp and Brewton, clinch spot in title game Monday

Through their first two games of the 12U all-star tournament in Brewton, the East Brewton all-stars rode the arms of their pitchers to start the tournament 2-0.
East Brewton started the tournament Friday night with an 8-2 win over Opp. East Brewton starting pitcher Connor Huskey struck out 12 in the win for East Brewton.
In game two Saturday, East Brewton edged out Brewton 6-4. Austin Majors and Matt Hutchins held Brewton to only two hits in the win.
Stats from Sunday’s game were not available as of press time Monday, but East Brewton defeated Covington County 12-2 in five innings to reach the title game undefeated.
East Brewton was set to meet up with Brewton in a rematch of Saturday’s game Monday at 6 p.m. in the championship game of the tournament. If East Brewton won game one, they would be named district champions. If East Brewton lost, a deciding second game would be played at 8 p.m. to determine the champion.
Both East Brewton and will Brewton will advance to the state tournament.

Friday: EB 8, Opp 2
Connor Huskey struck out 12 and allowed two runs Friday in an 8-2 win over Opp in the tournament’s first game.
Huskey went the complete distance on the mound and allowed seven hits and walked three to get the win.
East Brewton struck for one run each in the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead over Opp heading into the bottom of the third.
After Opp plated two runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 3-2, East Brewton added five runs in the top of the sixth inning and held Opp scoreless in the bottom of the inning to get the win by six.
At the plate for East Brewton, Hutchins had a single while Huskey had a double and a single and one RBI.
Brandon Moye had a single and one RBI while Austin Majors and Jeremy Sims both added a single.
P.J. Lovelace added one single and an RBI for East Brewton in the win.

Saturday: EB 6, Brewton 4
Facing off against Brewton Saturday, Majors and Hutchins combined for a two-hitter as East Brewton advanced in the winners bracket with a 6-4 win while Brewton dropped to the losers bracket.
Majors got the start on the mound and the win as he went five innings and allowed two hits, four runs, walked and struck out six. Hutchins went the final inning for the save and struck out one.
East Brewton led Brewton 2-1 after the first inning before Brewton tied the game at 2-2 in the second inning.
In the third inning, East Brewton plated three runs to take a 5-2 lead and added one run in the fourth inning to increase their lead to 6-2.
In the fifth, Brewton would get two runs to cut the lead to 6-4 but would not get any closer as East Brewton claimed the win by two.
At the plate for East Brewton, Kristian Taylor had a single and Moye added a double. Majors had a double and a single and two RBIs and Hunter Revel had an RBI double. Jacobey Hawthorne added a single in the win.
For Brewton, Drew Williamson had a double and Russell Smith had a solo homerun in the fifth. Jason Konsler had two RBIs in the loss.
On the mound, Konsler got the start and the loss as he went three innings and allowed four hits, five runs, four earned, walked four, hit one and struck out six.
Williamson went the final two innings and allowed two hits, one run, walked one and struck out five.
