Ministry to distribute food items

New Beginnings Ministries, Inc. will have a distribution of food items purchased at the Bay Area Food Bank in Mobile, according to Samantha Bell, secretary of the organization.
“We will give 10,000 pounds of food away on Saturday, June 30, from noon until 2 p.m. at two locations,” Bell said. “We will give 5,000 pounds at the old Winn-Dixie store in the shopping center next to Dirt Cheap, and another 5,000 pounds at the New Beginnings Church, located on the four-lane south of town.”
The New Beginnings organization raises funds to be used to purchase the food items to be given away.
“We don’t get them for free,” Bell said. “We have to raise the funds to buy the food when we have these food give-a-ways. The last one was in December and it was very successful. We fed more than 200 families at that give-a-way.”
Bell said there are no preregistration and they only thing necessary is to come to either the church or the Winn-Dixie location, fill out a sheet of paperwork, and pick up the food.
“We look on this give-a-way is our opportunity to help those who are in need,” Bell said. “There will be a variety of food, including eggs and produce, as well as canned goods. If anyone would like to have further information, we can be reached at 809-2463 at the church.”
