Sheriff Grover Smith shot

Sources say Escambia County Sheriff Grover Smith was transported to a local hospital with a superficial gunshot wound following a standoff in Flomaton Friday morning.
Sources say the injury is not life-threatening.
The incident began earlier Friday morning after law enforcement officials attempted to serve papers to a subject at a resident off U.S. 31.
According to sources, the subject is dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Law enforcement officials are still on the scene and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation is en route to the scene to continue the investigation.
