Mrs. Barbara Juanita Kaufman Reiss, 72, of Sowell Road, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 after a brief illness. She was a native and former resident of Illinois, before moving to Brewton in 1972.
She was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church and was employed at Peach Chevrolet with 28 years of service in the automotive industry. She was preceded in death by her parents Anna and Ferd Kaufman; and her sons, Michael Reiss and Doug Reiss.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Leon Reiss; her sons, Greg Reiss and Terry (Isabel) Reiss; her daughters, Debbie Bell and Marcia (Johnny) Allan, both of Brewton, and Jennifer (Derek) Jackson of Pensacola, Fla.; her brothers, Alfred Kaufman, Harold Kaufman, and Richard Kaufman; her sisters, Hilda Livingston, Rosemary Thoele, Phyllis Kremer, and Margaret McCoskey all of Illinois; her grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Parker, Sara, Kayla, Jessica, Paxton, Gabrielle, Haley, Myra, Tiffany, Meredith, Hannah, and David; and a great granddaughter, Elisabeth.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Maurice Catholic Church with Father Adrian Cook and Father Gordon Milstead officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
