Benefit planned for cancer victim

Published 9:43pm Monday, October 1, 2012

A special benefit for Jackie Thompson Forsythe is being planned for Saturday – and it’s a suprise.

Forsythe, a member of the class of 1976 at W.S. Neal High School, has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called appendiceal carcinoma, and friends are stepping up to help.

Saturday’s events will begin at 9 a.m. at Fort Crawford Park across from Magnolia Superfoods in East Brewton.

Plans for the day include entertainment, children’s activites, motorcycle rides and more. Dinners will also be available including catfish with the trimmings, hot dogs, nachos, a cake walk and more.

Organizers say dinners will be delivered to businesses placing an order for 10 or more meals. Orders can be placed at 251-230-1506.

Monetary donations can be made at BankTrust in Brewton with checks made payable to the victim’s sister, Elaine Wilson – special account.
