Escambia County (Fla.) Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at Odom’s bar on the Florida, Alabama state line Sunday night and found a man suffering from what they called “obvious stab wounds.”

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Department, deputies found the victim wounded, but conscious and alert. Witnesses told deputies that, earlier in the evening, Johnnie Brittingham stabbed the victim following an altercation. According to officials with the Sheriff’s Department, Brittingham fled the scene, but later returned to retrieve his vehicle. After leaving the bar, deputies attempted to stop Brittingham’s vehicle, before the suspect fled to a residence, approximately 300 yards from the establishment. Brittingham was taken into custody by Sheriff’s deputies, assisted by officers from the Flomaton Police Department on an outstanding warrant in Escambia County (Ala.).

He is currently being held without bond as an investigation continues into the alleged stabbing in Florida.
