TRM cross country ‘getting better’

Running in the Big MA Cross Country Invitational Saturday on the campus of Montgomery Academy in Montgomery, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers cross country team finished fourth while the boys finished ninth.
There were 13 teams in the girls 5K while the boys 5K saw 17 teams.
“The girls and boys are both getting better each week,” T.R. Miller cross country head coach Rob Atkinson said. “This was a very difficult course so the times were not as low as they would have been on an easier course, but our effort was outstanding.”
In the girls race, Karisa Nelson led T.R. Miller with a second place finish as she ran a time of 19:00.82. Allie Nelson finished in sixth place with a time of 20:43.23 and Katie Nelson placed 19th with a time of 21:48.44
Amber Terry ran a time of 23:05.76 for a 55th place finish and Lindsay Norton finished 76th with a time of 23:57.62.
Payton Baxter ran a time of 23:22.72 for 81st place and Morgan Rowell finished 90th with a time of 26:19.09.
There were 146 runners in the girls race.
In the boys race, 229 runners took part in the 5K. Rob Stokes led T.R. Miller with a 10th place finish and a time of 17:45.18.
Christian Carlson came in 32nd for T.R. Miller as he had a time of 18:53.50. Carter Frezell finished in 87th place with a time of 20:55.47 and John West took 106th place with a time of 21:25.23.
Dillon Simmons ran a time of 22:32.61 for 135th and Travis Carlson came in 155th with a time of 23:06.44.
Ryan Snowden rounded out the Tiger runners with a 172nd place finish and a time of 23:42.43.
The Tigers will be back in action Tuesday, Oct. 9 when they will run in Northview. The race is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
