Edith Ophelia Peevy Jones

Mrs. Edith Ophelia Peevy Jones, 87, of South Perry Street in Montgomery, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 in Brewton after an extended illness.

She was a native of Brewton and a longtime resident of Montgomery. She was a 1943 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, a retired clerk for the Alabama Department of Revenue and a member of the Montgomery Community of Christ Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Peevy and Carla Prestwood Peevy; a brother, Frederick E. Peevy Sr.; two sisters, Aeatha G. Peevy and Evelyn Rae Hendrix.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Jones McClure of Grant; a brother, Roderick A. Peevy Sr., of Pensacola, Fla.; one sister, Gladys Peevy Handrop of Pensacola, Fla.; two grandchildren, Sonya Henson of Huntsville and Dana Henson of Albertville; three great-grandchildren, Demitri Robles, Anna Robles and Zhane Faulks; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside serves will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery with Evangelist Dick Dour officiating and Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
