BMS boys basketball get first win

The Brewton Middle School boys basketball team picked up their first win of the season Monday night at home against McCall.
The Tigers defeated the Wolves 35-31 to improve to 1-6 this season. In girls action Monday, the Lady Tigers of BMS improved to 6-1 with a 22-9 win over McCall.
In the boys game Monday, Brewton led McCall 7-0 after the first quarter and 18-10 at the half.
In the third quarter, Brewton increased their lead to 30-21 before being outscored 10-5 in the fourth, but hung on for the 4-point win 35-31.
Marcus Paul led the way with 19 points and Hayden Atkinson finished with five points along with Stokes Jennings.
Jo Jo Booker, Joshua Jolly and Chris Ellis all chipped in two points each.
In girls action, Brewton kept McCall in single digits while getting the win by 13 points.
The Lady Tigers led 4-2 after one quarter and 12-4 at the half. In the third quarter, Brewton increased their lead to 16-9 before ending the game on a 6-0 run to get the win.
Steely Ruzic led with eight points and Morgan Longmire finished with six. Destiny Watson added four points while Brianna Dees and Akilah Brazile had two points each.
