License fees to go up

Doing business in Brewton will cost just a few dollars beginning in January after a state recalculation of the license issuance fee by the Alabama Department of Revenue.
Steve Yuhasz, acting clerk for the council, said the increase was passed down from the state level.
“The municipal license issuance fee has been recaluclated by the Alabama Department of Revenue,” Yuhasz told the council. “The fee will be raised from $10 to $10 just for the license issuance fee.”
Yuhasz said there are around 1,800 business licenses issued in Brewton each year with the cost and expense of the license varying by the type of business or service making a license application.
The new fee will be effective beginning Jan. 1, 2013 after approval from the city council.
In other business, the council:
• Approved the re-appointment of John Barnett and Gary Miller to the Brewtno Development Authority Board;
• Lovelace appointed Mary Cathering Adams to serve on the Tree and Beautification Board of Brewton.
