Bayside Academy 38, WSN Lady Eagles 34
Leading 26-24 after three quarters of play and eight minutes away from their first win of the season Tuesday night, the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles succumbed to a 14-8 run by Bayside in the final quarter to remain winless with a four-point loss.
“We played a very good team in Bayside Academy,” W.S. Neal Lady Eagle head coach Kason Whitten said. “They were able to get the ball to bounce in their direction a couple more times than us. I’ll say that this was the first complete game that we’ve played as a team all year from start to finish. We have the potential to be very competitive if we play like we did tonight. Aside from the little things like free throws, rebounds, and missed lay ups, we can compete with anyone in our area. As we get more games under our belt, I believe so will the confidence, competitiveness, and completeness of our play, which can place us in the win column more frequently.”
W.S. Neal trailed Bayside 7-5 after the first quarter and 17-16 at the half.
In the third quarter, the Lady Admirals built a 21-17 lead with 6:27 left in the quarter, but the Lady Eagles responded with an 8-0 run to help them take a 26-24 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Bayside led 36-31 with 2:39 left in the game, but the Lady Eagles responded again to cut the lead to 36-34 with 1:36 remaining in the game.
W.S. Neal would not get any closer as Bayside grabbed the win by four points.
