The burns will be performed by the aerial ignition and hand crews with the first burn planned to cover 1,409 acres of forest land in the Dixie community.
The prescribe fire boundary is east of Escambia County 11, east of Forest Service Road 397A and west of Bear Head Creek and north of Forest Service Road 305.

The second burn will be 2,186 acres in the Bear Bay area. The boundary will be south of Forest Service Road 305, west of Hurricane Creek, east of County Road 3, and north of County Road 2. During today’s burn, the public will notice Forest Service fire crews and equipment.

Foresters are asking motorists traveling in the area to be aware of possible smoke along the roadway and to use extreme caution while traveling in the area.
