Maxwell ‘Mack’ Matthew Blackmon Sr.

Mr. Maxwell “Mack” Matthew Blackmon Sr., 79, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at his residence in Range. He was a truck driver who owned and operated Blackmon Logging. He was a member of the House of Prayer in Range. He was a Mason and served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lee Blackmon and Zula Byrd Blackmon; and his brothers, Gerald Blackmon and Chesley Blackmon.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Blackmon of Range; three sons, Thomas O’neal (Lawanda) Blackmon and Maxwell Matthew “Mike” (Bobbie Jean) Blackmon, all of Lenox, and Tim (Darlene) Blackmon of Range; two daughters, Brenda (Ricky) Chavers of Brewton, and Patsy (Jackie) Branch of Grand Ridge, Fla.; his brother, William (Debra) Blackmon of Range; his sisters, Gladys (Gene) Aycock of Brewton, Faye (Munsie) Hammack and Margie Mayo, both of Range, Dianne (Eddie) Kendrick of Macon, Ga., and Brenda (Doug) Oesterle) Kendrick of Gautier, Miss.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Burial followed at Hartwood Cemetery in Range with Monroe Chapel Funeral Home directing.
