TRM/WSN tennis teams split

In a Monday tennis match in East Brewton between the T.R. Miller boys and girls and the W.S. Neal boys girls, the two teams split.
The W.S. Neal boys started their year 1-0 with a 4-3 win over the Tigers. T.R. Miller fell to 0-2 with the loss. In girls action, T.R. Miller improved to 2-0 with a 7-0 win over W.S. Neal. The Lady Eagles fell to 0-1.
While the match was an early season tennis match for both teams Monday, W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller’s coaches may have been comparing notes a bit as they watched the action.
Both Miller’s Gerald McAnally and Neal’s Robbie Grace are in their first year coaching tennis for each school.
McAnally said he has several returning girls.
“In our first match last Friday, the girls all won,” he said of the first outing against Jay. “The boys are young, but we’re hopeful.”
Grace, whose Eagles were in their first match of the year, said he is also looking forward to the season. Like McAnally, he has both returning talent and new players.
“This is our first time playing,” he said. “My top four boys all played last year.”
