LBW sweeps JDCC baseball

In a three-game conference series with LBW, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team was swept to fall to 15-24 overall and to 7-17 in conference play.
The Warhawks lost game one of the series 4-3 on Friday. On Saturday, JDCC lost 8-1 and 5-3. Saturday’s games were not available as of press time.
In Friday’s games, the two teams were tied at 1-all after the fifth inning before LBW scored one run in the sixth and two in the seventh to take a 4-1 lead. From there, JDCC added one in the eighth and one in the ninth to cut the lead to one, but could not get another run as they took the loss 4-3.
At the plate, Brandon Trawick was 2-for-2 with one RBI and Logan Hill was 3-for-4. Mitchell Holmes was 2-for-4 and Alex Jones was 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI.
Kyle Freeman and Brandon Ray were both 1-for-3 and Trae Walsingham was 2-for-4. Michael Fox was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
On the mound, John Williams took the loss going 6 1/3 innings and allowed six hits, four earned runs, walked and struck out three.
Joey Scapecchi went 2 2/3 innings and allowed four hits, walked and struck out two.
JDCC will play at Lawson Sate Tuesday in a 1 p.m. game. The game will be nine innings.
JDCC will return to conference play Friday and Saturday when they travel to Alabama Southern for a conference series. The two teams will play a nine-inning game at 2 p.m. Friday and a nine and seven-inning doubleheader Saturday starting at noon.
