Dennis Ray ‘Big D’ Dunaway

Mr. Dennis Ray “Big D” Dunaway, 62, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital after an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Brewton area, where he was a member of First Baptist Church.  He was a 1969 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, a graduate of Jefferson Davis Community College, and a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, earning a degree in education. He was the owner and manager of WEBJ Radio 1240 AM, and served 12 years as a Brewton City Council member.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Monk Dunaway of Brewton; a daughter, Chandler Dunaway of Brewton; three brothers, Calvin (Carolyn) Dunaway of Brewton, and Jerry (Terry) Dunaway and Steve (Sherry) Dunaway, both of East Brewton; and a number of other relatives.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 13, from 1 until 3 p.m. at the Brewton First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, at 3 p.m. at the Brewton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Fitts officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
