Under the organizational direction of Bo and Samantha Bell and volunteers from New Beginnings Worship Center, representatives from several area churches were on hand for a prayer circle and food giveaway Thursday.

Bo Bell, pastor at NBWS, said several area churches were represented when 10,000 pounds of food was distributed to those in need.

“We are blessed to have people from several churches to come and help us,” Bell said. “This is just a blessing. These people have helped with organizing and preparing the food for distribution and are here to pray with those who come in looking for help.”

Bell said around 350 boxes of food were prepared for distribution at the Compassion for Brewton building on St. Nicholas Avenue Thursday.

“We want to reach out to people who have a need,” Bell said. “We want to serve as many people as possible. We see needs in this community and we are working create a way to meet those needs.”
