It was a clean sweep for the Brewton Middle School and the T.R. Miller JV and varsity Lady Tiger volleyball teams as they all started their season with wins over Flomaton.
The Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers took down Flomaton 2-0 (25-6 and 25-6) while the JV Lady Tigers won 2-0 as well. The JV team defeated Flomaton 25-11 and 25-16.
In varsity action, T.R. Miller finished off the sweep with a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-15, 25-21).
“I was pleased with the team’s overall effort tonight,” Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “It wasn’t always pretty but we found a way to win all three games. We have two senior starters out with injuries so we had to shuffle the line up a bit, but everyone handled the change very well and did what was asked of them. We have several areas that need improvement but that is to be expected early in the season. If the girls will keep playing with great effort everything else will take care of itself.”
Brewton Middle School will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to J.U. Blacksher for a JV only game. Game time is set for 5 p.m. and will be a doubleheader.
The T.R. Miller JV and varsity teams will be back in action Thursday, September 5 when they travel to Monroe County. Game times will be at 4:30 p.m. for the JV team and 5:30 p.m. for the varsity.
T.R. Miller will have their first home game of the season on Monday, Sept. 9 against state power Bayside Academy. The game will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the JV team while the varsity will play at 5:30 p.m. The varsity game will be an area game.
