BYF and NYF teams split games Saturday

In the first annual Youth Football Battle Of Murder Creek Saturday at Brewton Municipal Stadium, the Neal Youth Football teams and the Brewton Youth Football teams split 2-2.
In the 5-6 age group, Neal defeated Brewton 19-13 while Brewton took the 7-8 division by a score of 20-13.
In the 9-10 age group, Neal won 13-0 while Brewton took the 11-12 game by a score of 38-12.
In the 9-10 game Samuel Bosarge scampered 20 yards for the first touchdown of the game for Neal to make the score 6-0. The one point try failed as Neal led 6-0 at the half.
In the third quarter, Jordan Sims broke a 31-yard sweep around the left side for a touchdown. Sims also converted the conversion to make the score 13-0 which would stand the rest of the contest.
Neal had 245 yards of total offense in the win as Bosarge had 14 carries for 114 yards Sims had seven carries for 109 yards, Tyler Brooks had six carries for 16 yards and Taylor Watson Had three carries for 6 yards.
Neal’s defense never let Brewton get to the red zone the entire game thanks to a sound defense that only gave up 118 yards.
Konner Woods eight tackles, Mario Lane had nine tackles, Tyler Brooks had six tackles, Dustin Godwin had nine tackles, Dawson Lambeth had one tackle, Gavin Leggett had seven tackles, Logan Bolling had three tackles, Bosarge had six tackles, Sims had eight tackles and Taylor Watson had seven tackles.
No stats from the other three games were reported or known as of press time.
