Two East Brewton men were arrested last week and charged with theft of property after they allegedly stole a car that was set for repairs and sold it for scrap, East Brewton Police Chief Kenny Brazile said.

Shawn Mealer and Jonathan Haveard were charged with theft of property in the first degree, Brazile said.

Brazile said police had gotten a report of a stolen vehicle from a location on U.S. 29.

“They took a vehicle that was waiting to be repaired and sold it for scrap to an unknown place in Florida,” Brazile said.
