A Brewton man is in custody on attempted murder, kidnapping and sexual torture charges after he allegedly beat and held his wife captive for several days.

Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said 54-year-old Roger Anthony Dixon is being held on a $500,000 bond for the March 20 incident.

“We were notified by Andalusia Regional Hospital, where the victim’s family had taken her for treatment,” Lambert said. “The victim reported that (Dixon) had tied her up at a residence on Marrietta Road for several days, and allegedly physically beat her, assaulted her and sexually abused her.

“The victim said she was able to get her freedom after Dixon left the residence and she was able to contact her family,” Lambert said.

The victim’s condition was not immediately known, Lambert said.

Brewton Standard archives show that Dixon was convicted in 2007 of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Sentencing in the case was not immediately known.
