An Evergreen woman is being held in the Escambia County Detention Center Friday, charged with breaking in and trying to stab her ex-boyfriend to death.

Flomaton Police Chief Bryan Davis said police were called to a Wilkerson Street home at approximately 10:16 p.m. Thursday after receiving a 911 call saying that a

man had been stabbed.

“When officers arrived, they came into contact with the suspected female violator outside the residence where the incident had occurred, covered in blood,” Davis said.

The victim, a 41-year-old male, appeared to have multiple stab wounds to the chest area. He was transported via ambulance for pick up by Life Flight and sent to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

Davis identified the suspect as 45-year-old Ruby Faye Likely of Evergreen.

“Apparently, she was a former girlfriend of the victim,” Davis said. “Likely came to the victim’s residence and broke in through a window. We believe that is when the altercation took place. During the altercation, the victim was able to go to a neighbor’s for help.”

Likely is charged with attempted murder and first-degree burglary. She is currently being held awaiting a bond hearing.

Davis expressed his appreciation to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and the Flomaton Fire and Rescue for their assistance in the case.
