Shelton State hands JDCC baseball 8-2 loss Thursday to end regular season

In their final regular season game Thursday against Shelton State, the JDCC Warhawk baseball team was held to only three hits as they dropped an 8-2 contest.
JDCC was held scoreless through the first eight innings of the game before plating two runs in the ninth inning.
Shelton scored two runs in the first inning and added a five-run second inning to blow the game open and take a 7-0 lead after two innings of play.
Shelton’s final run of the game came in the fifth inning.
Cameron Davis, Tanner Zant and Brandon Davis had JDCC’s hits in the game. Hunter Myrick and Michael Fox had one RBI each in the loss.
Cameron Davis’ hit was a double in the loss.
Roman Donofro, Scott Robertson, Mitchell Peterson and Jacob Fillmore all pitched for the Warhawks in the loss with Donofro being the pitcher of record.
JDCC’s pitchers combined to go eight innings and allowed nine hits, eight runs, all earned, walked six and struck out eight.
JDCC finished their regular season with a 21-22 overall record. The Warhawks, who finished 16-14 in conference play, will play at the state tournament Friday, May 9 against Shelton State.
