Brewton BR Tuesday: South Carolina and ASU split, LSU wins over Arkansas

After Monday’s games were rained out, the Brewton Babe Ruth league saw a triple-header Tuesday in Brewton.
South Carolina and Arizona State met twice Tuesday—playing Monday’s cancelled game and Tuesday’s regularly-scheduled game—while LSU and Arkansas played their cancelled game from Monday.
In Tuesday’s games, South Carolina and Arizona State split while LSU downed Arkansas.
ASU claimed a 14-13 win over South Carolina to end their five-game losing streak. In game two, South Carolina won 4-3. In the nightcap, LSU defeated Arkansas 9-2.
When the dust settled Tuesday night, LSU moved to 9-4 overall while Arkansas fell to 6-7.
South Carolina moved to 8-5-1 overall while Arizona State’s record went to 3-10-1.
Games will be played on Thursday in Brewton with Tuesday’s format of 4, 5:45, and 7:15 p.m.
LSU and Arkansas will play their Tuesday game at 4 p.m. followed by Thursday’s game at 5:45 p.m. South Carolina and Arizona State will play their Thursday night game at 7:15 p.m.
After Tuesday’s games, LSU remained in first place while South Carolina was second, Arkansas was third and Arizona State was in fourth place.

South Carolina 13-4, Arizona State 14-3
South Carolina and Arizona State squared off on the diamond twice Tuesday night and came away with a split. Arizona State rallied in game one to get a 14-13 win while South Carolina won game two 4-3.
In game one, South Carolina—who led Arizona State 8-3 and 13-9 at different times in the game—held a four-run lead heading into the last inning. South Carolina would make five errors as they took the loss by one run.
Arizona State tied the game at 13-all in the final inning. With two outs and a runner on second, USC intentionally walked two batters to load the bases.
Andrew Etheridge, with two strikes on him at the plate, delivered the game-winning hit to give ASU the one-run win.
Etheridge went all five innings on the mound to get the win while Joshua Winton took the loss for USC. Winton went five innings and struck out 10.
In game two, South Carolina won 4-3. Caleb Winton earned the pitching win for the Gamecocks of South Carolina while Russell Smith took the loss for the Sun Devils of ASU.
No other stats or game information from the two games were known as of press time.

LSU 9, Arkansas 2
Brandon Moye and Stokes Jennings combined to pitch a two-hitter for LSU as they earned a 9-2 win over Arkansas Tuesday night in Brewton.
Moye earned the pitching win for LSU as he went four innings. Jennings went the final two innings.
The duo combined to go six innings and allowed two hits, two earned runs, walked one and struck out eight.
For Arkansas, Matt Hutchins took the loss as he went three innings. Weston Riddle pitched one inning and Jo Jo Booker went the final inning.
The trio combined to go six innings and allowed four hits, eight runs, two earned, walked six and struck out seven while hitting one batter.
Booker had both his for Arkansas and scored both runs. Riddle and Hunter Revel had one RBI each in the loss.
For LSU at the plate, O’Neil White, Connor Huskey, Moye, and Colton Young all had hits. Moye and Huskey had a double each in the win.
White, Moye, and Jennings had one RBI each while Young had two RBIs in the win.
LSU led Arkansas 2-0 after one inning and 2-1 after two innings before taking a 5-1 lead in the third. Arkansas added their final run in the fifth inning while LSU scored three more in the sixth to get the win by six runs.
