WSNMS football now 3-0, BMS gets first win

Both Brewton and W.S. Neal middle schools’ football teams picked up wins Thursday night at home against teams from Monroe County.
BMS picked up their first win of the season and moved to 1-2 with a 42-6 win over Monroe County. No stats or game information from the game was known as of press time.
WSNMS moved to 3-0 this season with a 30-6 win over Excel, where at the end of the first quarter, the Eagles of East Brewton led 6-0 and 18-6 at the half.
In the third quarter, Neal increased their lead to 24-6 and added one score in the fourth quarter to get the win by 24 points.
The Eagles had 15 first downs in the win and 341 total yards. WSN racked up 310 yards on the ground rushing and 31 passing.
Nate Hutcheson led the way on the ground with 192 yards on 14 carries. He scored four touchdowns in the win on runs of 27, 37, 4 and 52 yards.
Noah Hill had 24 yards on six carries and scored an 8-yard touchdown run.
Zack Baxter added 17 yards on five carries, Aquarius Taylor had 35 yards on two carries while Caden Nowling finished with 17 yards on two carries. Ty Williams had two carries for 10 yards and Cameron Sims finished with 12 carries for two yards.
Matt Thomas had two yards on one carry along with Jennings Hobbs.
Thomas was 2-for-4 passing for 31 yards with both passes to Taylor Fountain.
Excel was held to six first downs and 109 yards of total offense. All offensive yards came on the ground and the lone score was on a 66-yard run.
The Panthers were 0-for-1 passing.
