From a night with Satchmo and the colorful carpets of Aladdin, to an evening of Christian music and Cirque Zuma Zuma, the upcoming Brewton Council of the Arts season is packed with entertainment for everyone.
There are five performances set for this season. The first, which will be held on Sat., Nov. 1, will highlight a “Salute to Satchmo.” Goers can enjoy an evening of Dixieland jazz that pays tribute to jazz great Louis Armstrong through song, story and New Orleans style entertainment.
“This year we have a fantastic season of music, entertainment and children’s theatre,” said BCA member Susan Miller. “For less than the cost of taking your family to a movie, you can enjoy five live performances.”
A patron family ticket is $100, while a patron individual ticket is $50. Family season passes are available for $50, while an individual season pass is $25. For seniors, there is a $20 senior season ticket. Tickets can be mailed to purchasers by emailing Miller at sdibrell@mchsi.com. For more information, contact Miller at 251-363-0176.
The season will continue with a Dec. 9 performance by Christian gospel singer John Boutwell.
The Missoula Children’s Theater will bring Aladdin to the stage on Sat., Feb. 14, while Cirque Zuma Zuma – which is described as an “African-style Cirque du Soleil” – will arrive on Fri., Feb. 20.
The season will end on April 12 with a performance by Bella Voice, Mobile’s premier women’s chorus. A time will be announced later for this performance; however, all other performances are set to begin at 7 p.m. on the Jefferson Davis Community College stage.
