A Sellersville Community pastor is dead, and police are still searching for his son-in-law in connection with the murder.
The shooting occurred at the Book of Acts Holiness Church on Jimmy Sellers Road, just north of the Florida line about 15 miles northwest of Munson, Fla., just before 10 a.m. Monday.
Sheriff Grover Smith said when deputies arrived, they found 69-year-old Paul Phillips injured from a shotgun blast. Phillips was the pastor of the church.
“Mr. Phillips died at the scene from his injuries,” Smith said. “A warrant has been issued for murder for his son-in-law, Brett Richard Yeiter. The shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation as the two were engaged in an ongoing dispute, which is what we believe was the motive for the shooting.”
While the case remains under investigation, Smith described it as a “very sad situations involving family members.”
Yeiter, 46, is being sought by police, and anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office or one’s local law enforcement agency.
He was driving a 1995 Eddie Bauer Edition Ford F150 regular cab truck, two-toned, with white on top, gold on bottom, no license plate and toolbox.
Yeiter was last scene heading at a high rate of speed through the Blackwater Forest.
He is considered armed and dangerous.
