John Croyle, famed University of Alabama football player and founder of the Big Oaks Ranch Inc. will be this year’s guest speaker at the Brewton Chamber of Commerce banquet.
Set for Tues., March 3, at the Brewton Country Club, the event will also honor the 2014 citizen of the year, said chamber director Judy Crane.
A social hour with a cash bar and silent auction will be held from 6 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. The buffet menu will be prime rib, chicken Milano, scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, salad, bread and drinks.
“We’re so excited to have the opportunity to feature someone who has made such a tremendous impact on so many lives,” Chamber Director Judy Crane said. “(Croyle)’s Big Oak Ranch, Inc. serves three ministries: Big Oak Boys’ Ranch, Big Oak Girls’ Ranch and Westbrook Christian School.
“His philosophy is ‘A hundred years from now it will not matter what kind of house we lived in, the kind of car we drove or how much money we had in the bank, but the world may be different because you and I were important in the life of a child,’” she said. “His words will serve as an inspiring message to all who attend.”
Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased on-line at brewtonchamber.com or at the chamber office. For more information, call 867.3224.
