WSN softball suffers area loss to UMS-Wright

W.S. Neal’s softball team dropped their first area game of the season Thursday at home as they suffered a 6-1 loss to UMS-Wright.
The Lady Eagles of East Brewton were held to one lone run in the third inning while UMS-Wright added one each in the first, second and fourth innings and three more in the sixth to turn a 3-1 lead into a five-run win.
Haleigh Dubose took the pitching loss for WSN as she went all seven innings and allowed nine hits, six runs, five earned, walked six and struck out two. Dubose hit two batters in the loss.
At the plate, Dubose was 1-for-3 with the lone RBI. Karissa Johnson, Tori Wyatt, Erin Hartsel, Kaeli Brown, Adria Barnett and Madison Winchester all had hits while Brianna Pugh went 2-for-3.
WSN made three errors in the loss.
WSN fell to 5-11 overall and to 0-1 in area play with the loss.
