Let’s ‘Kick it’

Saturday will mark the third annual Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce’s “Kick it at the Creek” event.
Featuring 1,500 pounds of boiled crawfish, good music and fun, the event will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Jennings Park.
It promises to be bigger and better than ever, Chamber Director Clay Lisenby said.
“We selected a new and better location closer to the creek in Jennings Park to host the event,” he said.
Organizers have also worked with city officials to have the area sprayed for mosquitoes and to provide golf carts to shuttle people to and from the parking area, he said.
“Some picnic tables will be available for seating but we encourage everyone to bring their lawn chairs to be sure you have a seat – that is, if you plan on sitting down,” he said.
The “31 South Band,” a popular country, southern rock, blues and dance band, will be in concert “performing music that everyone loves and can dance to,” Lisenby said.
There is no admission fee to the concert. Flats of crawfish, potatoes, corn and Conecuh Sausage will be $15 per flat.  Also available will be pizza by the slice for $2 and ice-cold Pepsi Cola products for $1.
Sponsors for the event include Wendy Folmar, State Farm; Westgate Village; Trustmark Bank; Turning Leaf Construction and David’s Catfish House.
