Parents shopping for back-to-school items in August will get a break on sales taxes in Brewton.
Monday, the council voted to participate in the state’s annual sales tax holiday. Set for Aug. 7-9, the holiday waives sales taxes on certain school-related items such as supplies, books, clothes and electronics.
To date, the state and Brewton have voted to participate in the holiday; however, the subject has not come up for a vote by the Escambia County Commission.
