JDCC softball goes 1-2 at state tourney; players get honored

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks softball team saw their season come to an end this weekend at the state tournament in Alabaster.
The Lady Warhawks went 1-2 at the state tournament to end their season with a 32-29 overall record.
In game one, JDCC opened with a 6-0 win over Gadsden. JDCC scored four runs in the fourth inning to aid them in the win. JDCC held Gadsden to only one hit in the win.
In game two, JDCC lost to Southern Union by a score of 3-1. JDCC was held to one run in the sixth inning while SU scored one run in the second and two more in the third inning.
In game three, in a loser’s bracket game, JDCC lost to Calhoun 9-0. Calhoun scored five runs in the third inning to get the win.
No other stats or game information from the games were known as of press time.
Several Lady Warhawks earned awards at the state tournament as Katilin Hadaway, Hannah Brake and Katlin Bryars all made the first team all-south conference team.
Chelsey Ramer and Jordan Swindle made the second team all-south conference team.
Hadaway and Brake made the first team all-region team while Bryars made the second team.
JDCC head coach Misti Nims was tabbed as the ACCC Coach of the Year for the 2015 season.
