Another set of city streets will soon get a makeover thanks to ATRIP funds.
Some 4.03 miles will be repaved on the following streets:
• Lovelace Lane;
• Old Castleberry Road;
• Tiger Drive;
• Douglas Lane;
• Belleville Avenue; and,
• Sowell Road.
On Monday, the Brewton City Council approved an agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation to proceed with the project.
Escambia County received $5 million in final phase of the highway project and $11.9 million in total funds.
ATRIP is funded by GARVEE bonds, which allows Alabama to access future federal funds for needed road and bridge projects.
“As we make these improvements, we’re improving public safety, and we’re also helping attract more jobs,” Gov. Robert Bentley said previously.
