FCA camp to start Monday at TRM

A decade ago, there was a vision to give area elementary school kids a chance to experience an affordable and memorable faith-based athletic camp became a reality.
Now, 10 years later, the FCA KidsCamp has turned into one of the summer’s most anticipated events.
The 10th Annual Brewton-area Fellowship of Christian Athletes KidsCamp will be next week (July 13-16) at the T.R. Miller Campus.
Since 2006, more than 1,000 kids and huddle leaders have participated in FCA KidsCamp, which is designed to help give children who have completed first through sixth grade an opportunity for a Christian camp that balances athletic competition and character/integrity development with the message of Jesus Christ.
The theme for the 2015 camp is “Pursuit” and is based on Proverbs 8:17: “I love those who love me. And those who diligently seek me will find me.”
“Ten years have flown by,” said camp director Randy Winton. “It was also a dream to watch those first group of kids grow up to understand what the love of Christ was all about and come back to be huddle leaders to help shape the next generation of Christian athletes. That has happened as well.
Huddle leaders are assigned to the age groups during the week and serve as coaches to the kids. The main idea of the camp is building character and being an example.
The camp, which typically averages 80 kids, ends with the much-anticipated “Wild Tiger Relay.”
Cost for the camp is $25, and all students will need to bring a sack lunch each day.
Water will be provided.
