Miller, Hillcrest win, will face off in regional finals

The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers defeated Straughn 41-28 on Saturday to advance to the regional finals next week.

Miller led at the half 23-13, and outscored Straughn 18-15 in the second half to pick up the win.

Miller never trailed in the game, with its largest lead coming at 18 points with 6:17 to play in the third quarter.
Alyssa Dean had 12 points to lead all Straughn scorers.

Kyla Bell-Barton led TRM with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Aleria Smith had seven points and seven rebounds. Steely Ruzic had seven points and four rebounds.

Miller shot 31 percent from the field. Straughn shot 40 percent.

Later in the evening Hillcrest-Evergreen defeated Geneva 54-35.

Tyesha Rudolph had 21 points to lead the Lady Jaguars. Shanecia Salvatore had 15 points. Destiny Simpson had 12 points and four rebounds.

Geneva had 30 turnovers in the game.
TRM will play Hillcrest-Evergreen at the Dothan Civic Center on Wed., Feb. 22 at 12:30 p.m.
