Dr. Bagwell holding rabies clinic June 3

Dr. John D. Bagwell will hold his annual rabies clinic for dogs and cats on Sat., June 3.

“Rabies is harbored in this part of the county in the skunk, fox and raccoon populations,” Bagwell said. “One of them bites a dog or a cat and then that’s how it gets to man. If we vaccinate enough pets, it puts a barrier between the disease and humans.”

Bagwell asks that the animals be three months of age or older and restrained either by a leash or in a cage or pet carrier.

Bagwell estimated he sees some 300 animals during the day and encourages all pet owners to take advantage of the program.

The cost is $10, and the clinic will operate on the following schedule:

• Friendship Fire Department, 6:45-7 a.m.

• Lambeth-Boutwell Church, 7:15-7:30 a.m.

• Flomaton Lion’s Park Community Center, 8:30-9 a.m.

• Pollard City Hall, 9:10-9:20 a.m.

• McCall School, 9:35- 9:50 a.m.

• South Bethel Church of God on Foshee Road; 10-10:05 a.m.

• Hinotes old store on Foshee Road, 10:10-10:20 a.m.

• Pineville Cross Roads, 10:35-10:50 a.m.

• Barnett’s Cross Roads Volunteer Fire Department, 11:15-11:20 a.m.

• Downtown Wallace, Thompson’s Store, 11:35-11:45 a.m.

• Country Kitchen on Appleton Road, noon until 12:05 p.m.

• Appleton Volunteer Fire Department, 12:15-12:20 p.m.

• Zion Hill Baptist Church on U.S. 31, north of Brewton, 12:25-12:30 p.m.
