The Appleton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call in the early hours of Monday morning of a mobile home fire located in Blueberry Hills Mobile Home Park.
“The Brewton Fire Department and the Escambia County Fire and Rescue were also called for assistance,” Appleton Fire Chief Michael Tyler said. “We used 8,000 gallons of water on the fire, but it was a total loss.”
Appleton volunteer firefighter Ginny Tyler said the mobile home was a rental and unoccupied at the time of the fire. Michael Tyler said he believed the mobile home was actually owned by Michael Haveard Jr. There was a nearby car that Tyler said was singed a little by the flames.
“One witness said that he had seen sparks at the fuse box, and I have asked the fire marshal to check for code violations, but there didn’t seem a need for an investigation,” Michael Tyler said.
