To the editor:
With our nation already involved in hot spots overseas, many hundreds of National Guard and other military called up and deployed and with our president calling up for intensified action, blood needs will surely increase. There are always needs here at home.
We challenge our military veterans, American Legion and National Guard, who know firsthand the importance of the delivery and administering of that precious life-sustaining commodity in foreign places, to step forward and show their colors. Likewise to those who have family and friends serving.
BellSouth is presently attempting a concept long since employed by Red Cross: to be your local and long distance provider.
It's not logical that as easy and painless as donating blood is, less than five percent of eligible donors participate. Let's be logical. Thursday let's get up, brace up and give up a pint!
The blood drive will be held at the Brewton Community Center, from 1 to 6 p.m. Together we can save a life.
