Mr. Joseph James Thompson Jr., 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002 at his residence. He was a native of Pollard and had lived in Escambia County all of his life. He worked as a shipping clerk for L &N Railroad, was a member of Catawba Springs Baptist Church and a member of Woodman of the World.
He is survived by four brothers, Phillip E. Thompson of Bay Minette, William W. Thompson and Byrl Thompson, both of Brewton and Ed Thompson of Matthews, N.C.; four sisters, Frances Tuberville of Brandon, Miss., Esther Ruth Brannon of Bay Minette, Betty Jo Duncan of Marietta, Ga. and Patricia Baker of Roswell, Ga.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Craver's Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Thompson and Dr. Stephen Yuhasz officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Springs Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Jake Jernigan, George Ward, Buster Chavers, Ed Wayne Thompson, Willis Elbert Thompson and Ricky Chavers.
