Mr. Willie Fred McMillan, 83, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002 at a Baldwin County hospital. He was a native of Monroe County and a resident of the Freemanville community for many years. He was a retired merchant marine with the U.S. Navy and he had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, West McMillan and Annie Mae Nichols.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Peterson of Bronx, N.Y. and Anna Lean McMillan of Mobile; one son, Raymond Peterson of Bronx, N.Y.; two sisters, Ethel M. Staples of Atmore and Viola Williams of New York; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 8, at noon at Mt. Gillead Baptist Church at Freemanville with Bishop Willie L. Williams, pastor of Jones Street Holiness Church officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
