Mr. Joe R. Serra, 62, of Brewton, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002 in a local hospital after an extended illness. He was a native of Guatemala, Mexico and resident of Brewton since 1997. He was of the Baptist faith, a U.S. Air force veteran and retired from Maxon Corp. in Muncie, Ind. with 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Wiggins Serra of Brewton; one step-son, Scotty Wiggins of East Brewton; one brother, Mario Serra of Port Orford, Ore.; three sisters, Dora Pellecer and Vera Poince, both of Guatemala City, Mexico and Sonia Landry of Hudson, Fla. and a number of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Don Cox officiating. Burial followed at Rock Creek Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Flomaton
Joshua Wayne Coates, an infant, died Oct. 11, 2002 at a Mobile hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Brandon and DeeDee Coates of Flomaton; his grandparents, Lisa Kay Hardy of Flomaton, Tommy Lunsford Jr. of Flomaton and Donnie and Jennifer Bryant of Durham, N. C.; his great-grandparents, Edna Gertrude Horton of Mobile, Betty Joyce Carpenter of Perdido, Faye Coates of Roxboro, N.C. and Elsie Brown of Durham, N.C.; an aunt and and an uncle.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Jesse Lough officiating. Burial followed at Pineview Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home officiating.
