Mrs. Mary Lee Curry Crenshaw-Evans, 66, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at a Pensacola hospital. She was a native of Nokomis and a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a missionary and member of many other church organizations. She had worked as a cook at the Best Western Restaurant in Atmore for several years and most recently worked with her husband in their business, Big Jim's Carpet in Atmore. She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Rosie Curry and her grandparents, Andrew and Carrie Curry.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Evans, of Atmore; six daughters, Gennie Lewis, Daisy Crenshaw, Elizabeth Crenshaw, Deborah Crenshaw and Kimberly Crenshaw all of Atmore and Mary Martin of Biloxi, Miss.; six sons, Joe Crenshaw of Philadelphia, Pa., Andrew Crenshaw, Michael Crenshaw, Nathaniel Crenshaw, Danny Crenshaw and Timothy Crenshaw, all of Atmore; five sisters, Rosie Williams, Josephine Lewis, Elizabeth McPherson and Savannah Curry, all of Atmore and Louise Hawthorne of Nashville, Tenn.; six brothers, Willie Curry, Samuel Curry, Woodrow Curry and Aaron Curry, all of Atmore, Melvin Curry of Pineview, S.C. and Eddie Curry of Jersey City, N.J., 38 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 12, at 1 p.m. at Lighthouse Apostolic Holiness Church in Atmore with Apostle Floyd Nelson and Elder Robert Grissett officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Shiloh Church Cemetery in Nokomis with Turner Funeral Chapel directing. Pallbearers were deacons of Lighthouse Apostolic Holiness Church and friends of the family.
