A weapon seized during a domestic dispute led investigators with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office and the Brewton Police Department to the arrest of a suspect on charges of burglary.
Leeta Ann Lucas, 40, of Old Castleberry Road, was arrested and charged with first degree burglary and theft of property, first degree.
The arrest came after a four-month investigation into a residential burglary that occurred on Petty Road in the Appleton Community.
Lucas was arrested Monday after investigators from the two local law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at Lucas' home. While conducting the search, investigators allegedly found two stolen weapons, stolen coins and stolen jewelry.
During the week prior to the arrest, police officers were called to a domestic dispute at Lucas' residence. At that time, the officers recovered a weapon from the home. Investigators with the sheriff's office were able to match the serial numbers of the gun taken from Lucas' residence to a gun that was reported stolen earlier in the year.
Upon matching the serial numbers, Lucas was located and taken to the sheriff's office where she was interviewed by investigators. Following that interview, the investigators were able to obtain a search warrant for Lucas' home. Deputies and BPD officers took part in the search.
In additional to the stolen items reported to be found, officials with the ECSO said Lucas had pawned stolen jewelry at a local pawn shop.
Lucas was taken to the Escambia County Detention Center where she has since been released on $14,000 bond.
