After this past Friday night's dominating win over the W.S. Neal Blue Eagles, the T.R. Miller Tigers have an open date on their schedule this week and plan to utilize the time to both rest and begin preparing for the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs.
Miller ended its regular season on a high note with the 39-6 victory over the Blue Eagles while improving to 6-3 overall and completing Region 1 play at 5-2. Next on the agenda is a November 8 first-round playoff matchup on the road against Dadeville.
Tiger head coach Jamie Riggs said the open week would afford his team an opportunity to heal some minor nicks and bruises as well as start focusing on what lies ahead.
With Miller having completed its initial Class 3A regular season Friday night after competing in Class 4A over the past decade, Riggs assessed the new competition by saying the difference between the two classes is hardly noticeable.
In gearing themselves for the playoffs, the Tigers are hoping their strong play in recent games will be the catalyst for continued improvement against the tough competition they will face in the postseason.
