Mr. Charles Earl Hale Sr., 72, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002 in a Bay Minette hospital. He was a native of Stockton and had lived there most of his life. He was a graduate of Alabama State University in Montgomery. He was a retired educator with 40 years of experience in Baldwin County where he served as a teacher at Vaughn Junior High School and Stockton Junior High School and as an assistant principal at Bay Minette Elementary, Pine Grove Elementary, Baldwin County Middle and Baldwin County High Schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He had been a member of Trinity Chapel AME Church in Bay Minette and had been studying Jehovah's Witness in recent years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Ada Hale; his wife, Rosa Delores Hale; four brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by three daughters, Diane Woods of Bay Minette, Anita Thomas of Ellenwood, Ga. and Michelle Cook of Tuskegee; six sons, Charles Hale Jr. and Larry Hale, both of Tuskegee, Bernard Hale of Montgomery, Darrell Hale of Atlanta, Alfonso Hale of New Orleans and Terry Hale of Stockton; one sister, Ruth Adams of Bay Minette; 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 11, from 2 until 8:30 p.m. and the body will lie instate an hour before the service at the Bay Minette Municipal Auditorium.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, at noon at Bay Minette Municipal Auditorium. Burial will be at Smith Cemetery in Stockton with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
