More on the Godwins

I am continuing with the family of William Godwin and Elizabeth McCabe Brewton.
Sabra Larsa Godwin, dau of William Godwin and Elizabeth McCabe Brewton married Cornelius Columbus Coleman (20 Dec 1832-25 Sept 1920) and had these children….Mary Coleman (4 Sept 1852-9 Oct 1937) who married Hezekiah Byrd (1845), Alfred J. Coleman (14 Aug 1853-27 May 1942) who married Jane Lewis, Elizabeth McCabe Coleman (10 Mar 1856-Mar 1936) who married Jesse Travis Powell (Nov 1865-23 Mar 1935), Sabra L. Coleman (30 Aug 1857-8 Aug 1939), Jonathan Coleman (13 Jan 1859-24 Feb 1933) who married Amanda Nettles, Annie Coleman (4 May 1860-24 Aug 1909) who married John Henry Odom and John Siggers, William Thomas Coleman (1 Feb 1862-19 July 1936) who married Sarah Nichols, Susan Coleman (28 Sept 1863-6 Jan 1946) who married Jasper Buchannon, Lucy Anna Coleman (7 Jan 1866-23 Oct 1939) who married Britt Nichols, Cornelius Columbus Coleman, Jr. (7 Sept 1867-2 Oct 1882), Nancy Coleman (1 June 1869) who married William Godwin, Catherine Coleman (7 Nov 1870-20 Jan 1924) who married John Julion, and Martha Coleman (7 Aug 1874-4 Dec 1964) who married Wiley Oscar Siggers.
William M. Godwin (8 Apr 1807-5 May 1897) and Elizabeth McCabe Brewton (20 Jan 1813-15 Sept 1876) third child was Joseph Godwin (abt 1833-4 Sept 1864) was killed in the Civil War. He married Harriett A. Stanton (15 Jan 1836-8 Oct 1915) and they had at least five children…….Frances J. Godwin (18 Sept 1855-10 Mar 1892) who married John Smith (7 Oct 1853-6 June 1878), James Samuel Godwin (27 Oct 1857-1 June 1927) who married Mamie Arnita Curry (17 Feb 1868), William T. Godwin (11 Apr 1861-26 Sept 1863), Harriett Ann Godwin (28 Apr 1864) who married Travis W. Stanton (8 July 1856), and Malissa Godwin (28 Oct 1865) who married James C. Emmons (6 Mar 1855-22 July 1928).
The fourth child of William and Elizabeth Brewton Godwin was Jonathan Godwin (abt 1834). The fifth child was Nathan Allen Godwin (28 Aug 1836-5 Apr 1913) who married Amanda C. Stanton (17 June 1842-2 Nov 1908). Their children were…..Thomas J. Godwin (14 Feb 1864-3 Jan 1925) who married Lula Newberry (22 Feb 1868-12 Oct 1945), Lucinda Victoria Godwin (2 Feb 1866), Henrietta Godwin (25 Sept 1869-5 Feb 1940), Green W. Godwin (11 July 1875) who married Allie Powell (8 Aug 1877), and Samuel Godwin (22 July 1883) who married Florence Howell (23 Aug 1890).
Now I will get back to the Godwin family. I want to start with the sixth child of William Godwin and Elizabeth McCabe Brewton, William Godwin, Jr. (1 Dec 1838-15 Nov 1916) and continue with the other children. Isabella Godwin (abt 1840), Lucinda Godwin (abt 1845), Jacob Godwin (abt 1846) who married Sarah Emmons, Sarah Godwin (abt 1848), Mary Godwin (Feb 1850), Nancy Godwin (abt 1853), and Catherine Godwin (abt 1855) who married Clem Hall.
This is about as far as I will go on this family. We will get into another family next week.
