With a new coach to go along with a young, but talented group of players, the 2002-03 W.S. Neal Lady Eagles are looking for a successful season.
First-year head coach Dino Thurmon inherits a team that returns only a handful of players who saw action last season. However, a new influx of talent has the Lady Eagles confident of vastly improving last year's two-win season.
The Lady Eagles will compete against T.R. Miller and Clarke County in Class 3A, Area-1 play. Thurman said both teams are formidable opponents.
As they begin the season, Thurmon pointed-out some of the Lady Eagles' strengths and possible question marks.
In evaluating his personnel, Thurmon stressed the need for his returning players to set the tone of the team's attitude and work ethic. He described some of the positive attributes of the experienced Lady Eagles.
For the Lady Eagles to reach their potential, some of the younger players must step up and contribute. Thurmon assessed the newcomers' talents and said he is excited about the potential each possesses.
According to Thurmon, the key to the Lady Eagles' success will be the effort they put forth on the defensive end of the floor.
